How Does A Server Auction Work

The Server Auction operates in a Dutch-style system where server prices start high and decrease over time. Customers can monitor the prices and place an order when they find a suitable deal by clicking the red “Buy” button. Since servers are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, acting quickly is essential to secure your desired server. The servers available are pre-used but fully functional, often featuring custom configurations from their previous users.

Server Auction at GTHost – All You Need To Know

  • The server setup you bought through an auction is free
  • Servers from the auction are typically delivered within 15 to 30 minutes, similar to standard dedicated servers.
  • The cancellation process is the same as for standard dedicated servers.
  • All dedicated servers, including auction servers, come with unlimited traffic.
  • All services available for standard dedicated servers can also be applied to Auction bought servers. Submit a support ticket for any specific requests.
  • The time between price drops is determined randomly by software. This ensures a fair bidding process.

How Do I Order a Server From The Server Auction?

  1. Click the “Buy” button next to the server you want.
  2. Review the server details and follow the steps in the ordering process.
  3. Here you go! Enjoy your server.

If you are new to GTHost, create a new account to order our products.

What Servers Are Available For Bid

The Server Auction features a wide variety of dedicated servers — some with minimal resources and others with much more, such as AMD processors or GPU. All servers posted in the Auction were previously part of the latest dedicated server lineup.

Additionally, the Auction includes servers with less popular specifications and unique customizations. Any custom hardware remains intact and is included when you purchase the server.

How Does GTHost Renew the Server Auction Selection?

Servers are added to the Auction as they become available. These are not newly built servers but ones canceled by previous customers. The supply depends on cancellations, so availability and models can vary.

Who Decides The Prices For The Auction?

Starting prices for each server model are set by the GTHost team. Prices decrease over time, so the same model may appear at different prices depending on how long it has been in the Auction.

Prices fluctuate based on supply and demand. Higher supply or lower demand results in lower average prices, while lower supply or higher demand leads to higher average prices.

Auction Servers Are Best For

These servers are ideal for customers with server administration experience. They do not include software support. Customers without server administration knowledge can still purchase a server and hire a professional to manage it. For many use cases that don’t require cutting-edge hardware, Auction servers are a cost-effective option.

Tasks Suitable For Auction Servers

Auction servers are fully-functional dedicated servers suitable for any typical server use. Whether you need them for web hosting, data storage, running custom applications, or hosting game servers, these machines are equipped to meet a range of needs.

Despite being previously used, they are thoroughly tested to ensure they work as reliably as new servers, making them an excellent choice for any typical server use. They are fully customizable to fit your specific requirements, whether for a personal project or a business solution.

However, certain activities are prohibited. Refer to GTHost Policies for dedicated servers and the Terms and Conditions for more details.

How Do I Find My Perfect Server?

Visit the Server Auction page to filter servers by price, RAM, number of drives, and other criteria. If you have specific requirements, such as private LAN connectivity or additional hardware, contact the sales team before ordering. This helps ensure compatibility and allows you to make an informed decision.

Customer Support For Servers From The Auction

Servers from the Auction are dedicated servers, meaning they are unmanaged. As the customer, you have full root access and complete control over the server and its resources. You can always contact our support team for any specific questions or issues arising with your server.

However, you are entirely responsible for:

  • Configuring the server
  • Installing and maintaining software
  • Ensuring security
  • Backing up data
  • Monitoring hardware and performing updates
  • Addressing abuse issues promptly if contacted by the Abuse Team
